AFC Voted 2016 Best Employer of Choice by Village of Lake in the Hills

Date January 2017 • in Press Releases

Lake in the Hills - February 3, 2017 - Advanced Flexible Composites, Inc. (AFC)was recently voted the 2016 Gordon Larsen Business Achievement Award winner for Best Employer of Choice by the Village of Lake in the Hills.

Customers, employees, and members of the community are encouraged to nominate the organization they feel best represents the Lake in the Hills business environment. Criteria include a combination of culture, investment in human capital, benefits, and work/life balance, among others. They are then reviewed by a committee, which weighs both the quantity and quality of submissions received, to determine category winners.

Bill Lewis, AFC Founder and CEO, remarked: "As the Founder and CEO of AFC, this award is extraordinarily meaningful. I raised my family in Algonquin for over 20 years before moving to Woodstock. We are proud to call this area home. Gordon and Joan Larsen were dear friends of my wife Dale and I. Gordon built and financed our first 12,500 sq. ft. building on a handshake; this was the way he did business. Two years later we bought out the land contract, and today we own three more buildings on Walter Court totaling over 150,000 sq. ft. Gordon helped turned my vision for AFC into reality; for that I cannot thank the Larsen family enough."

Bill's son, AFC President and CFO Chris Lewis, also commented: "We are a family owned business and have worked very hard to maintain the employee-focused, family-friendly atmosphere that has made us successful as a company. With approximately 150 employees, our ability to continually grow and employ local talent is our way to give back to the community we grew up in."
